JAMstudio designed a brand new flagship furniture showroom in Clerkenwell, London for Wilkhahn UK. The new flexible workspace on two levels has provided Wilkhahn with the ability to showcase their products to maximum effect whilst, hosting meetings, seminars and events in the heart of London’s design community.

Scope

JAMstudio's remit included full interior design, space planning, specification of all materials, signage, joinery and lighting

Environment

The restrained pallette allows the products to be demonstrated to maximum effect this included a feature Glass and steel back lit staircase

Fact

Wilkhahn is a world leader in the design of ergonomic office furniture. Formed in 1907 it has a global presence.

Technical

The two floors were leased as a near derelict shell. With a very tight deadline, the contractor completed the refurbishment in five weeks.

Project feedback

I’m Absolutely delighted with the showroom and the fact that we were open in time for Clerkenwell Design Week, our first night party was a roaring success. Finally we have a high profile space that authentically represents the Wilkhahn brand and will allow us to go from strength to strength. All Credit to Marie-Louise and John, I couldn’t have done it with out them.

I really enjoyed this extremely challenging project, having specified furniture from Wilkhahn over the years. It was a great honour to have the opportunity to work on a project of this prestige and it demonstrated that projects at distance are not an issue for the practice. The high quality end product would not have been possible without our main contractor, Cube Interiors Ltd, and their meticulous attention to detail and programming.
