Prospect House

Cluny, Aberdeenshire

true

As part of the lengthy refurbishment of this 18th century factor’s house, JAMstudio responded to the clients’ brief by providing an exhilarating glass, oak and zinc extension. The design sensitively juxtaposed the old and new parts of the building, breathing new life into a home which has delighted the family for the last four years.

Scope

The project was phased over a four year period and the extensions took five months to complete.

Environment

To ensure the glass was correct, a 3D laser survey of the partially built extension was undertaken to produce a pointcloud image from which the glass could be sized mm perfect

Fact

The oak timber cladding to the extensions is a sustainable product, chosen for its longevity, durability and aesthetics.

Technical

To compensate for the large area of glass used in the extension, the original house was well insulated to ensure lower running costs.

Project feedback

JAMstudio provided excellent technical advice and interpreted our needs. The new fantastic glass, oak and zinc extension works brilliantly.
