JAMstudio were commissioned to design a new building and facility for ROV services company film-ocean. The new headquarters building for the company included offices, workshops, warehousing and a 5m deep ROV test tank.
film-ocean commissioned JAMstudio in June 2021 to design a new 570m2 office and 825m2 warehouse, incorporating a new ROV Test tank, measuring 5x5x5m submerged into the ground The warehouse measures 55x15m internally and is fitted with a 20 tonne overhead gantry crane.
The building is fitted with solar PV panels, and a host of other energy saving measures including daylight sensors to automatically adjust the light levels and heat recovery system to minimise energy consumption.
Internally the offices feature moss walls, exposed ceilings, energy saving features, a selection of open plan and individual offices, boardroom and inspection room overlooking the test tank, meeting spaces, gym and a café with roof garden.
JAMstudio deliberately chose completely non-combustible materials to clad the building. The Warehouse is clad with a double skin of pressed steel panels infilled with Rockwool insulation while the office section of the building features Rockpanel non-combustible rainscreen cladding.
