The contrasting addition of a two storey zinc and granite clad extension to a traditional house on Springfield Road in Aberdeen has resulted in a striking improvement to the original detached family home. It allowed space for a generous open plan living area and kitchen, as well as additional en-suite bedrooms and a basement wine cellar.
Springfield Road Gallery
- The three storey extension was completed in six months despite very constrained access to the site and torrential rain!
- 300 tons of re-enforced concrete with a waterproof lining were used to construct the basement which stores the clients' wine collection.
- The sharp lines and contemporary look of the extension were achieved by specifying pre-fabricated interlocking VM Quartz Zinc panels.
- In order to create an unobstructed open plan family space, a series of steel portals are hidden within the timber frame structure.
