Beaconsfield Place Extension Complete

JAMstudio is delighted to announce its most recent project completion. The residential extension on Beaconsfield Place in Aberdeen combines a modern kitchen, living and dining area with a new garage below. One of the key design features is the full height glazing which makes the most of the south facing extension by drawing the maximum amount of natural light into the living space. The sliding doors open out onto the re-furbished patio area, which has slate tiles and a steel and glaze balustrade system.

The external material choices were selected to match the modern interior, with a smooth white rendered finish to the walls, and grey powder coated aluminium panels for the roof’s soffit and fascia.

The bespoke wine store in the dining area was constructed to meet the clients’ requirements for a display feature which would store wine at the optimum temperature and humidity. The walnut and glass storage unit, complete with a backlit LED panel, was constructed by Dundee based furniture manufacturers, Dovetail Enterprises. The double glazed partition system keeps the cool wine store separated from the main living space, which is kept warm throughout with a brand new under-floor heating system.

The lighting in the living, dining and kitchen area was specified to complement the design, with fully dimmable high quality fittings for scene setting the different areas. In the John Lewis kitchen, continuous linear fittings light the space, whilst the stunning Foscarini Caboche pendant fitting is a used as a fantastic feature above the Tom Schneider dining table and chairs.

The garage in the basement level of the house, accessed via a lane to the rear of the property, is a great example of making the most of opportunities discovered on site. During the demolition of the existing extension, a large unused space was discovered in the basement area below the living and dining area. This meant that the garage, originally planned for a single car, could be extended to house up to 3 vehicles as well as a workshop and utility space.

Additional work which we were asked to carry out as part of the project included new lighting and decoration in the living room and re-furbished bathrooms in the upper levels of the house.

Our clients will now be able to enjoy their new living space over the Christmas festive period, and make the most of the flexible, modern and individual design as a great place to entertain friends and family.
